When travelling in a group, it is useful for others to have a look at what you have planned and branch off on that plan if they decide to do something else on the day.
Let's say John creates a new journey. He automatically becomes the journey's owner and has full control over the who has access to the plan. If he adds you as a collaborator on the trip, you can update the journey with your plans if you prefer to do something else.
For example, let's say John had planned to visit Tokyo on Day 3, but you want to visit Kyoto instead. You edit John's plans with details about your Kyoto trip. The next time you log in, you will see your plan as the default as well as a link to John's plan so you are aware of what he is planning on the same day.
While you are travelling, you can always refer back to the site to see what you have planned for the next day or future days. By selecting the "Hide days in Past" checkbox, all previous days are hidden. This makes it easier for you to see what you have planned for today onwards.
Photos are private, which is why even when logged in, users are not able to see anyone else's photos. For the user to see photos, they need to be either the owner of the journey or added as a collaborator by the owner of the journey.
The easiest way to share photos is through Google Photos as they provide unlimited photo storage at no cost to you.
Once your photos are in Google Photos, simply share them. Select the photos you want to share and the day you are sharing. For example, selecting the day will select all photos for that day.
If you are travelling with others and would like others to upload their photos to the album so you can all view it, make sure you choose to allow others to add photos to the album.
While browsing the site, if you come across a plan that you like, you can make a copy of that plan.
Let's say you are planning a trip to Japan for 2 weeks and while browsing the site, you found someone's plan for their 2 week trip to Japan, you can simply copy their plan and edit it to suit your trip.
This will save you lots of time setting up your trip and it will also give you ideas on interesting places to visit while you are there. This is especially useful if you do not have any idea where to go.
